When you purchase a Decorist Design Package you have access to our talented team of professional interior designers all over the United States. Simply discover your interior design style with our Decorist Style Quiz. Select and purchase a Decorist Design Package starting at a flat-fee of $299. There are no additional fees. You will receive two concept boards for your space, provide us with your feedback and the designer will send you your final design. Your final design is complete with all the additional information you need to design your space; final design board, how-to instructions, floor plan and shopping list. Plus, you’ll have access to our complimentary Order for Me purchasing service, where we find you the best prices on your furniture. All designs are fully customized for you with your space, your budget and your style in mind.

What is a Decorist Room Design?

A Decorist Room Design is an online interior design project that you work on with an approved professional interior designer using Decorist's technology platform plus our approved professional designers. Each project includes: the design, a floorplan, and a shoppable product list.

When should I use Decorist?

If you need help with a room design or with any space in your home, we are here. We have worked on new apartments and homes, and/or existing rooms that need some love. Maybe you are getting married, having a baby or an empty nester with an extra room. We have done it all. Start-ups, beauty salons, dorm rooms, home offices or retail stores are all in our wheelhouse. Or maybe you are “almost” there and just need the last bit of help.

How does it work?

It is so easy! Answer simple questions, upload a few pictures and provide us with your inspirations from Pinterest, Houzz, Instagram, or other visual sources. Within a couple of days your designer will introduce themselves to you via email. This is a great time to communicate to your designer any challenges you have with your room, or anything else you feel they may want them to know.

Your Decorist interior designer will get started working on your room design project. You will receive your two initial concept boards within 7-9 business days later. Elite designers take a bit longer; you receive your initial concepts within 10 business days. Celebrity designers can take up to 30 days. In all cases your final room design will be delivered 3-5 business days after your feedback on your initial concepts is received.

Do I interact with my Designer?

Absolutely! You will interact with your interior designer throughout the entire process. You’ll correspond over email, phone or skype — whatever works best for you!

What exactly are the two initial concepts?

Initial concepts are midpoint designs that are 60% done. They show you the major furnishings, color scheme and general direction the interior designer has in mind for your space. Your feedback is essential for our designer to get to the final design. Immediately after receiving your input, your designer will get back to work to complete your final design plan.

What does a Decorist Design Package include?

All design packages include:

How many different designs will I receive?

For residential spaces you will receive 2 different initial concept boards for input and 1 final design plan.

Which package should I choose for my project?

We categorize our interior designers into three experience levels: Classic, Elite & Celebrity. Want the best price or most experienced? Choose the level that works for you.

What are the differences in the design packages?

Different packages are categorized by experience level. The Decorist Classic Design Package at $299 per room gives you access to our talented, up and coming designers while our Elite Design Package at $599 gives you access to seasoned designers with five or more years of interior design experience. Finally, for the unbelievable price of $1299 you can purchase a Celebrity Design Package. Celebrity designers are exactly that, well known interior designers who have been featured in major interior design publications. Each Design Package is the same process, includes the same level of service and final design plan components.

Where do the designers come from?

Our interior designers are all professionals from across the United States. Designers apply to Decorist where we review their education, experience, professional certifications, and portfolio. We ask all of our designers to create several “real example” boards to ensure their work meets up to our standard of excellence. Our Director of Design reviews all Decorist design boards for quality assurance and excellence before being sent to you.

How do I request a particular designer?

Feel free to look through our design directory, you’ll be able to click directly on each profile and purchase a room design project from that page. You do not have to select a designer at the point of purchase, you can wait until you have filled out our questionnaire to let us know who you would like to work with. Or, we can choose for you based upon your questionnaire results. Please note, it is not a 100% guarantee that you will work with the designer you select. But we will work to find you the perfect match!

What is the Happiness Guarantee?

Design is very personal and we believe in happiness guaranteed. If you're not happy with your design boards we'll work with your feedback and try again. If you still don't receive a design you love we'll refund your money. If you'd rather continue with your designer past the final design board, you may purchase additional time with them: $65/hour for Classic designers, $150/hour for Elite designers, and $275/hour for Celebrity designers.

What is the best way to contact you if I am experiencing a problem?

Do I have to take the Style Quiz?

No, it’s not required but it’s helpful for us to match you with a designer. Don’t over think the quiz, it’s meant to be fun. It’s complimentary and “scary accurate”.

What if I have more than one room or a whole house?

No problem, just email us directly at yourteam@decorist.com for a quote. We’ve worked on custom projects including coordinating color palettes and design elements across entire homes.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping

Shipping & handling covers regular shipping costs as well as access to our Decorist Purchasing Team, who will be on hand to take care of all ordering, shipping, and delivery coordination for you. White Glove delivery may be required for certain items and you will be contacted in those instances for a separate fee.

We’ll email you tracking links as each item ships. You can also check the status of your items at any time by visiting Your Orders in your profile.

Returns

You will have 14 days from delivery to initiate a return through Decorist. All custom items and most sale items are final sale, non-refundable. All returns must be in their original packaging. The customer is responsible for outbound and return shipping and handling costs. All shipping and handling is non-refundable. Restocking fees may apply.

Payment

What happens once I purchase my Room Design Project?

The first step is filling out our questionnaire. Then we’ll match you with a designer or you can select the designer you’d like to work with. If you’re too busy and don’t have time to fill out the questionnaire right away that’s not a problem. We will be here whenever you’re ready to get started.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

How do I know my room dimensions?

In our questionnaire we’ll ask you for your room measurements. Use a tape measurer to collect the length and width of your room. If you have specific questions around room measurements please contact us at yourteam@decorist.com.

I have an open floor plan, how does that work?

Basically, if you want to create 2 separate spaces or living areas, your designer will work on 2 separate projects. If you aren’t sure, just contact us at yourteam@decorist.com

How long do I have to wait before I receive my design boards?

You will receive an introduction to your designer within a few days of filling out your questionnaire. After the introduction, your designer will begin working on your project. You’ll receive two initial concept design boards delivered to your inbox within 7-9 working days. Have a rush design project? Let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your timeline.

How do I edit my room questionnaire once I have submitted it?

Logging in to your account and messaging your designer directly is the easiest way to do this. Any concerns, email us at yourteam@decoirst.com.

Can I upload images of my room?

Yes. Providing photos of your space is an important part of the design process. We ask that you upload 6-10 images of your space and we strongly encourage you upload any inspiration that might be helpful to the designers, i.e. pinterest boards, images or links of design spaces you like or of pieces of furniture you like. All of this is done easily through our online system once you purchase your room design project.

Does the room need to be a clean slate? Or can my designer incorporate my existing pieces?

No, your room does not need to be a clean slate. Please take photos of your room the way it exists today and indicate pieces you’d like to keep.

Do photos need to be a certain file type?

No, most of our clients use their smartphones to capture their room details. As long as we can clearly see the room layout, and products you’d like to keep, file type doesn’t matter.

What if I like things from both boards but am not sure if the items will work together? Or what if there are items I don’t like and want different suggestions?

Not a problem, in fact be explicit about what you like and don’t like in each board. Your designer expects this feedback and uses it to create a final design you’ll love.

Can I see where items can be purchased?

Yes, we provide you with a clickable shopping list in your final design plan.

What is a clickable shopping list?

Your shopping list includes all the products in your final design including product name, manufacturer and price with a direct link to your favorite retailer’s product page for purchase. All items are available for online purchase. Our designers frequently source products from “Trade only” sources to get you better prices and a more unique look. Please note our design projects include the Order for Me Program at no additional cost. Our design coordinator is happy to assist you in placing your orders, saving you time and energy.

What stores will the products be coming from? Can I request certain stores?

We work with hundreds of retailers and vendors, many of which are already your favorites and some that are your designer’s “secret sources”. Please let your designer know what stores you like best and your designer will do her best to accommodate specific requests.

What if the items on my clickable shopping list are no longer available?

Our designers are very good at staying current with merchandise or pointing out items on your shopping list that may be limited in quantity. In the event that an item does go out of stock, please contact your designer and they will find a replacement that fits your style and budget.

Do you get discounts when you order with Decorist?

We work very hard to get amazing prices for you with all of our retail and wholesale partners. Many times we can take advantage of our relationships with vendors to get free shipping discounts or better prices than those available on the internet. These discounted prices are always applied to your order when you use Order for Me.

How do I return products that I order through Decorist?

We honor every retailer or wholesaler return policy and work with you if there is any issue on delivery or quality. If items are custom made or one of a kind, we highlight the return policy for you prior to purchase. We are here to help.

Can I get my room photographed?

Contact us at yourteam@decorist.com if you are interested in having professional photographs shot of your newly designed space. We love showing off our talented designers and your beautiful spaces!

I am not sure I want a makeover, what else does your site offer?

Decorist has so much to offer, we are all about accessible and affordable home design. If you’re uncertain if a makeover is right please take advantage of the Decorist site. I live outside the United States, can Decorist design my space?

At this time we are not taking international clients outside the United States.

How do I request a refund for my room design project?

We want you to love your designs and your new space. If at any point you are dissatisfied, let us know at yourteam@decorist.com and we will work with you to rectify your experience.
