How To Create A Study Area In Your Bedroom

The bedroom is one of the most versatile rooms in any home, and many times that’s out of necessity.  If you live in a small apartment or a dorm room, you need to be able to several different things within a few feet of where you sleep.  One of the most common ideas when it comes to adding versatility to a bedroom is by way of incorporating a study area. Below you’ll find a few suggestions to help you get started your designing your bedroom study area.

Work Your Way Up

If you live in a small apartment, dorm room or in a single room in a home with a lot of roommates, you don’t have much space to work with.  You do, however, need your own space from time to time for the sake of your sanity.  One of the most popular bedroom study design ideas going today is to put one on top of the other – meaning you build a false second floor for your bed or for your study, and you put the other underneath.  It’s a great way to get a lot done in a small area yet provide some sort of division between the study and your bed.  You won’t feel totally cramped and you will be able to move freely between those areas without any trouble.

Behind Closed Doors

Another way to think about bedroom study decorating is by making use of the space that would otherwise be stacked with plastic bins and clothes you may not ever wear – the closets.  If you have a lot of closet space, you can turn at least part of that space into a study.  Put a nice desk and your computer in one half of your closet and keep the other half for your clothes.  You won’t use any floor space for anything other than comfortable bedroom living, and you’ll in a way be creating a whole new room inside of your room.

Wrap It Around

Finally, if you’re one of those people who enjoys a lot of counter space in your bedroom and a lot of drawer space, you can make all of this happen as well as adding a study with a certain approach.  One very popular idea for bedroom study decorating involves wrapping drawers around your room and keeping part of the space open with the countertop running along seamlessly.  If you do that, you’ve just created room for a computer, files and a comfortable chair.  That’s really all you need to make it all happen in your bedroom.
