Our Favorite Places to Buy Vintage Furniture Online

Out with the new, in with the old! At least that’s how we like to approach interior design in a way that is kind to the planet.  April is Earth Month and, here at Decorist, we are always looking for ways to lessen our carbon footprint without sacrificing style and there’s no better way to do that than with vintage. There is something so special about the patina and history of a vintage piece.  It’s old world, meets new and completely unique.  We like to add something vintage to each room to balance more modern pieces and to breathe life into a space.  Plus, buying secondhand is good for the environment and that’s a design tip we can really get behind.

We’ve rounded up some of our favorite retailers who make buying vintage seriously stylish.

Chairish makes going green absolutely gorgeous.  Their curated selection of vintage items - everything from covetable rattan lamps to velvety sofas - extends the lifecycle of home decor.  Instead of scouring flea markets and vintage stores, Chairish brings that experience straight to you through an impressive and wide array of home goods, vintage furniture, art, decor and more.  We have our eye on this travertine table lamp, it’s so good.

Jayson Home

Though not a huge selection (actually, that’s one of its perks), the highly curated vintage inventory at Jayson Home is a treasure trove of exquisite finds. The expertly sourced vintage section of the site has everything you’re looking for from an antique table salvaged from a Spanish monastery to a curved leather sofa.  We also swoon over their decor items and objets d’art like this found rice wine jar.

Whether you find yourself searching for a painting of the French countryside or a perfect media console in a Mid-Century style, Etsy has an incredible selection of unique, vintage finds.  With a little digging, you can really score on some of your favorite vintage finds.  We also love their editor tips for navigating the vintage shops and for some of the latest trends and quickly added these chairs to our shopping cart!

One Kings Lane

Clicking around the One Kings Lane vintage section is a treasure hunt for one-of-a-kind finds with history and character.  Their extensive inventory is a great source of inspiration and you can easily find everything you need to furnish and decorate your home.  Of note, One Kings Lane regularly has sales and promotions that will help you score that must have vintage-find at a steal.  We’ll be filling this beautiful pitcher with flowers all season long.

McGee & Co.

We often turn to McGee & Co. for their beautiful selection of furniture and home decor, but it’s their new collection of vintage finds that has us swooning.  Each one-of-a-kind piece feels intentional and special, adding character and interest to your existing style.  Add a little soul to your space with an earthenware pot on your entryway table or an impressionist-style painting tucked into your bookshelf for an effortless, unique look.

Revival Rugs

Do you dream of finding a beautiful, perfectly worn, one-of-a-kind rug that doesn’t cost as much as your mortgage?  Us too and, thankfully, Revival Rugs is the answer to that prayer.  Rugs are meant to be used as well as seen and a handwoven rug made with natural fibers can last for centuries, while an inexpensive acrylic version will likely deteriorate in a few years.  We absolutely love the vintage rugs sourced from Turkey and Morocco that can be had for a third of the price as a brick and mortar retailer.  The apricot tones in this vintage Moroccan rug feel unexpected and fresh.

1stDibs makes you feel as though you’ve stumbled upon a hidden gem at a Parisian flea market.  They seek to set the standard for those “seeking the most beautiful things on earth” and we wholeheartedly agree.  We find it best to have a sense of what you’re looking for before checking out 1stDibs as the amount of inventory can be overwhelming.  The site is a staggering collection of the world’s best antique dealers, shops and galleries.  We can’t say no to a carved African stool and love to use them as a side table or decorative bowl.
