Apartment Decorating – Study Reveals Sizes of Apartments in Different US Markets

Decorating the interior of any home is all about accentuating the features of that space and providing a bit of personality to the overall look.  Whether we’re talking about a home, office, condo or apartment, one truth is universal:  Size matters when it comes to how you’re going to approach your décor and furniture.  This is especially true when it comes to decorating an apartment.  Apartments come in all different shapes, sizes and costs, so in many ways they are as varied if not more varied than standalone homes.  That may present some challenges for people looking to get some apartment decorating done, but no one who works with Decorist should be concerned in the least with regards to such a project.  We’ll explain why below, but in the meantime you’ll find information about where the biggest and smallest apartments are located in the United States.

About the Rent Café Survey

Rent Café is a company that specializes in apartment rentals.  They also publish quite a bit of research and other content regarding apartments in general.  Recently, they came out with their lists of cities with the biggest and smallest apartments for rent on average.  You can find all of their research here, but below are the 10 cities with the biggest apartments and 10 cities with the smallest spaces for rent in the United States.

10 Cities with Biggest Apartments:

  1. Atlanta, GA

  2. Plano, TX

  3. Jersey City, NJ/Henderson, NV

  4. Chesapeake, VA

  5. Charlotte, NC

  6. Raleigh, NC

  7. Irvine, CA

  8. Gilbert, AZ

  9. Omaha, NE

  10. Boston, MA

10 Cities with Smallest Apartments:

  1. Tucson, AZ

  2. El Paso, TX

  3. Buffalo, NY

  4. Glendale, AZ

  5. Mesa, AZ

  6. Wichita, KS

  7. Phoenix, AZ

  8. Bakersfield, CA

  9. Newark, NJ/Albuquerque, NM

  10. Colorado Springs, CO

These results reveal that if you want to live in a big apartment, you should look in Atlanta and if you want minimal space, head for Arizona, especially Tucson.

Why This Survey Matters

When it comes to decorating an apartment, it all starts with the size of that apartment. If you’re going to be renting an enormous space, you’ll want to decorate it with furniture and other features that make use of all of that space. If you’re going to be living in a smaller apartment, you’ll want to decorate with the idea that every inch of that living space needs to be maximized.
