A Chic Makeover for Bachelorette Couple Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth
It was Kaitlyn Bristowe, the star of season 11 of The Bachelorette, who grabbed the love and the attention of the entire "Bachelor Nation." With her kind, funny, and upbeat personality, she also caught the eye of Shawn Booth, the handsome contestant who is now her fiancé of the past three years. Since the episode has aired, the two have taken on lots of new endeavors such as Kaitlyn's Off The Vine podcast and Shawn’s personal training gym and app, Boothcamp.
And as you may remember, it was almost a year ago when Decorist Creative Director Jessica McCarthy, first designed the couple's living and dining rooms in their Nashville home. So when she was summoned again to help decorate the couple's master bedroom and Kaitlyn's podcast room, Jessica grabbed the opportunity. However, this time we teamed up with chic furniture retailer Bed Bath & Beyond to bring their design and vision to life.
Read on to see the full transformation and the behind-the-scenes of the couple's spectacular new design. And in case you missed seeing the story on newsstands, you can read more about it here at USWeekly.com.
Kaitlyn and Shawn had a specific vision in mind for their master bedroom—a chic but calm sanctuary where they could relax and enjoy lazy Sunday afternoons. They wanted a luxe, hotel-like room with a soft color palette of grays, blush tones, and cream colors that incorporated metallic finishes and plush fabrics. “We’re big cuddlers," the reality TV star shares. "But we’re so busy, and on the go, so we wanted the room to be our quiet space where we could put on a movie or read a book. It’s perfect!"
Bed Bath & Beyond's vast product offerings made furnishing the rooms easy. As is the case with most bedrooms, the bed was the statement piece. Jessica chose a gray tufted wingback headboard to complement the crisp white bed linens perfectly. She added pops of pinks and blush found in the pillows, throw blanket and rug. The cloud-like watercolored wallpaper from Anewall added to the relaxing vibe of the room.
The soft velvet chairs, brass side table and plush oversized sheepskin rug act as another cozy spot for the couple to curl up in the room. Kaitlyn says she uses the seating area to “sit, have coffee and send emails while enjoying the natural sunlight."
Every girl needs a beauty bar, so Jessica chose a gray and gold vanity with an oversized round mirror centered between two beautiful brass étagères. Now this space is perfect for any pre-party or date night primping!
Home Office (aka Podcast Room)
With Kaitlyn's website and frequently airing podcast, she needed a fabulous new office to match her fabulous and creative ideas. And given that her hilarious podcast is called "Off the Vine," we knew that a wine theme was necessary.
Jessica set out to have a space that was inspirational for Kaitlyn while infusing her humor, feminine style and love for wine. She transformed the room by painting the existing white built-in bookcases in a dramatic high gloss black finish and switching out the knobs. Voilà! The repurposed bookcases created the perfect built-in bar to display Kaitlyn's wine collection.
Next, she installed a bold and dramatic floral wallpaper from Anewall and painted the remaining walls a deep rose pink.
The glamour factor was strong with all the shiny brass accents found in the velvet side chairs, oversized vintage mirror, and the lacquered black and brass desk. For more texture, Jessica added blush velvet drapes and a big bossy fluffy chair.
The final design gives Kaitlyn a girl-power office suited for a stylish “badass” and serves as the perfect backdrop for her podcast guests.
