5 Tips to Get Your Outdoors Ready for the Season
Warmer, sunnier days are ahead and we’re readying our spaces ready for maximum outdoor living. There’s nothing like being outside once the warmer season arrives and we’re looking to spruce up our patios, porches and decks for an instant mood boost. With travel still on the maybe/maybe not list and after all the time we’ve spent cooped up in our homes, we can’t wait to sip rosé in the sunshine and to feel transported to some far-flung locale.
Whether you’re working with a tiny deck or a sprawling lawn, here are a few of our favorite outdoor design ideas for sun-kissed inspiration.
Comfort is Key

With so many gorgeous outdoor furniture options these days, there’s no reason to sacrifice style for comfort. Exteriors should be an extension of your home’s stylish interior and extra comfy pieces will make sure that curling up outside after a long day is just as, if not more, appealing than your beloved sofa. These deep-backed rattan lounge chairs have us dreaming of Hawaii, just add a lumbar pillow for extra comfort. If you have space, a roomy outdoor sofa beckons year-round.
Lay the Groundwork

When looking to elevate your patio and terrace, an outdoor rug really ties the whole space together. With so many gorgeous outdoor rugs these days, it’s now even easier to turn your backyard into an extension of your home. Layered under furniture, it grounds the space and adds depth and we love the way it can help define the area. These hard-wearing, made-to-last rugs add an instant dose of style so, if you haven’t tried an outdoor rug before, now is the time to do it.
Dine Al Fresco

Is there anything better than eating outside on a lazy summer day? We feel instantly transported to our favorite sidewalk cafes and beachside restaurants. If you’re lucky enough to have space for a dining table outdoors, we say turn every night into a vacation. Transform your outdoor dining area into a dreamy alfresco space with the perfect table, a few dining chairs and a handful of throw pillows. Chic melamine plates in an unexpected terra-cotta color are lightweight and shatter-proof, and the irregularities on this set make them look just like your favorite ceramics.

Coffee tables are the perfect accent piece for your living room and your outdoor living room is no exception. Our favorite outdoor coffee tables add character to your space and are built to last with materials made for withstanding the wear and tear of the seasons, making them perfect for kicking up your feet, using for a casual dinner or simply resting your book as you lounge outside. Place an outdoor tray stocked with glassware and a bottle of your favorite beverage on the table and hang a sophisticated citronella coil nearby to keep the relaxed vibe going.

Accessories are what really bring the outdoors to life and help extend the feeling that living well is not just for the inside of our homes. Create a sanctuary in your own backyard with the perfect finishing touches. Pillows help make an outdoor setup feel comfortable and livable. Scatter lanterns around in varying heights to add a soft glow once the sun goes down. Greenery is always a good idea, especially outdoors, and we love to group planters for added visual interest. Want to make the most of your time outside? A sleek fire pit or gorgeous chiminea kicks off enough heat to make lingering outside truly special.
