5 Cost-Effective Kitchen Decorating Ideas

The kitchen is one of the most commonly redesigned rooms in the home. One of the challenges that comes with kitchen redesign, however, is the expense. Large appliances can cost quite a bit as can any sort of custom carpentry and lighting. As a result, a lot of people simply pass on the opportunity to do some kitchen redecorating because they want to or need to avoid that expense. What if you had some ideas on how to do some kitchen redesign at a relatively low cost? Below you’ll find 5 ideas for kitchen redecorating that won’t break the bank but that will provide you with a fresh look.

1. Paint The Cabinets

Cabinets are a dominant feature in almost any kitchen. It’s what we look at more than anything else. They’re also very expensive to replace. Instead of replacing them, how about just putting a fresh coat of paint on them in a different color? Doing so will make an enormous difference in the overall design of your kitchen - this is the single biggest impact to how your kitchen looks and if you're willing to put in a little DIY (or have a contractor do it), painting your cabinets could be the most cost-effective change you make.

2. Change Out The Hardware

As long as we’re talking about cabinetry, how about we think for a minute about what helps to open and close all of the doors and drawers?  That’s right – the hardware is an important piece on any cabinet in a kitchen.  If you change those out to go with some new paint, it’ll look like you’ve completely redone the kitchen.

3. Think Bold Color

Sure, an enormous refrigerator and a new stove are most likely out of the question when it comes to an economical budget for kitchen redecorating, but you can get smaller appliances for much less.  What if you added a colorful toaster or brightly hued stand mixer? That pop of color can do a lot to inject the room with a little more vibrant energy. Better still, get new kitchen towels, cannisters, utensil holders in the same color scheme at the same time and your kitchen will get a whole new look.

4. Treat Those Windows

Most kitchens these days come with plenty of windows.  It’s always nice to let the natural light into a kitchen, but it’s also a nice idea to change how that light enters if you’re looking to do some kitchen redesign work without breaking the bank.  Perhaps some new blinds or drapes over those windows would help with that new look.

5. Backsplash

Finally, if you’re willing to do a bit of manual labor, you can always change out that backsplash to something different.  This is a step that may not seem like a big deal, but it will make a dramatic difference in the overall look of your room.  Give it a shot – you’ll be glad you did.
