Football season is full swing and you might be thinking you'd like your family room to be "game on" for watching and entertaining. Well, we’re kicking it off with a go-to guide on how to watch the game and host get-togethers in style. Some people think football watching tends to be a casual kind of affair, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t make your home look fabulous while prepping for those game day festivities.

Keep reading for five tips on how to host the ultimate tailgate party, with comfort and style at the top of the priority list. Think: less man-cave, more game day chic.

1. Indulge in a comfy sofa

Comfortable seating is the foundation of a football party. Invest in a cozy sofa–a deep sectional, if possible–and be sure to pile on the pillows for game day. Allow folks to sit on floor pillows and cozy up with chunky throws, which are better for an informal affair of watching the game from fall and all winter long.

2. Set-up a bar

Every game day needs good snacks, plenty of drinks and a styish bar! So be ready for a fabulous football fête with a well-stocked bar. You can use a console table, bar cart or built-in book shelves to create an entertaing spot rather then running into the kitchen to refill each quarter.

3. Use double duty furniture

Double duty furniture works great as extra surface or extra seating. Pull out the ottomans and stools for folks to put down their drinks, sit on to watch the touchdowns, or munch on their game day snacks.

4. Outdoor tailgate area

We love when summer and fall collide and, of course, there is nothing better then being outside on a crisp, fall day. In between plays or at half time, it's fun to mix it up and head outdoors. Have your outdoor space ready with cozy seating, cold drinks, warm blankets and a nice fire.
